The purpose of the Rosary is to help keep in memory certain principal events in the history of our salvation. There are twenty mysteries reflected upon in the Rosary, and these are divided into the five Joyful Mysteries (said on Monday and Saturday), the five Luminous Mysteries (said on Thursday), the five Sorrowful Mysteries (said on Tuesday and Friday), and the five Glorious Mysteries (said on Wednesday and Sunday). As an exception, the Joyful Mysteries are said on Sundays during Christmas, while the Sorrowful Mysteries are said on the Sundays of Lent.
The recitation of the Rosary is held occasionally on Sunday morning before the 9:00 am Mass in the Blessed Sacrament chapel. During the month of May and October the Rosary is recited 30 mins prior to the start of Mass.
The Knights of Columbus also recite the Rosary on the First Sunday of the month at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall. In months where there are 5 Sundays the Knights lead will the Rosary 30 minutes before Mass begins.
Asking for the intercession of Mary the Mother of God through praying the Rosary is a treasured Catholic tradition. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to pray the Rosary.
