An Update On Attending Mass:
On Friday, May 14, Governor Cooper lifted all mandatory capacity and gathering limits, social distancing requirements and most mandatory mask requirements in North Carolina. With the guidance of our Bishop Luis Rafael, we started to implement this new instruction the weekend of May 15/16.
However, Bishop Luis Rafael continues to dispense the faithful from their Sunday obligation. “While this dispensation is applicable to all, it is continued primarily for the elderly, sick, and those with pre-existing health conditions or other vulnerable people”.
At this time, the Bishop encourages all of us to:
- Refrain from Communion from the Chalice and/or shaking hands during the Sign of Peace.
- Take additional precautions when distributing Holy Communion, including frequent use of hand sanitizer by Eucharistic Ministers. In our parish, communion on the tongue will not be offered at this time, and we encourage our Eucharistic Ministers to wear a mask during the distribution of the Holy Communion.
- Maintain a section of seating in which strict social distancing and mask wearing protocols remain in place to accommodate non-vaccinated or other vulnerable people. Our parish has created this section to accommodate people in this category.
NB: Our team at St. Stanislaus and I will be working on new adjustments as needs arise to accommodate our people and visitors.
Thank you so much for your patience. May God bless you all.
Fr. Roger Malonda
